OK, I don’t like talking politics but there is just some craziness going on in this country and it’s all so very sad. Years ago, I became unaffiliated with any political party and I will vote for whomever I believe will do the best job but I would never vote for an individual or individuals that spreads hate and feeds bigotry and racism.
I live in a great and unique country. A country that was built on the backs of people of all different races, rich and poor. We use words that originated in countries all over the world. We’ve adopted them as part of the English language. We eat foods that came to America from all over the world. Without ALL, this country would not BE for good and for bad. We’re not a melting pot because we don’t blend together, we’re gumbo or paella or beef stew, or chicken pot pie. We each play a role in the flavor of this country and racism has no place in the world ever.
Recently, my husband and I had our DNA tested and we found out some interesting things. At first, he scoffed at the small percentage of Jewish DNA he found he had, but what that says is that without that Jewish ancestor he wouldn’t exist. I’m Irish, well 6% Irish. That means that somewhere on my family tree is an Irishman and in America as a person of color that usually happened one way, but regardless had it not happened I wouldn’t be typing this today. This is how I came to be and I’m a mixture of many different cultures, just like this country is a mix of many different cultures that just wouldn’t be the same if one were excluded. We should celebrate diversity because this country doesn’t belong to any one race, it belongs to ALL.

Because I’m a Jew. Doesn’t a Jew have eyes? Doesn’t a Jew have hands, bodily organs, a human shape, five senses, feelings, and passions? Doesn’t a Jew eat the same food, get hurt with the same weapons, get sick with the same diseases, get healed by the same medicine, and warm up in summer and cool off in winter just like a Christian? If you prick us with a pin, don’t we bleed? If you tickle us, don’t we laugh? If you poison us, don’t we die? And if you treat us badly, won’t we try to get revenge? If we’re like you in everything else, we’ll resemble you in that respect. -William Shakespeare (translated)
