Multi-color Satchel via What Daisy Did Etsy
A satchel is a bag, often with a strap. The strap is often worn so that it diagonally crosses the body, with the bag hanging on the opposite hip, rather than hanging directly down from the shoulder. They are traditionally used for carrying books.
The satchel has been around for centuries as a means of carrying stuff. Roman legionaries carried a satchel or loculus which literally means ‘little place’ in Latin. The satchel became a fashion accessory and was popular during the 17th century. Since then, it has never really left the scene. In popular culture the iconic satchel is associated with the classic school boy image and with everyone’s favorite archaeologist Indiana Jones.
