Artist Love| Frida Kahlo’s Personal Things

Today, just perusing the web, I found a story via Small for Big about a costume collection of Frida Kahlo’s personal belongings that were locked away for 15 years, in a bathroom in her old home. Rivera locked the clothes away and demanded that the room be shut until 15 years after his death. The room was opened in 2004 and photographed by Ishiuchi Miyako before going to the Frida Kahlo museum in Mexico City. Of course, as a future art teacher, this peeked my interest and I can’t wait to share this as part of a lesson about the artwork of Frida Kahlo. Here’s a look at some of  the artist’s beloved belongings, from sunglasses to handpainted corsets to her fake leg with attached boot.
