Business Spotlight: Wild Ginger Fashion Design and Sewing Pattern

wild gingerFor most small companies obtaining patternmaking software from companies like Gerber or Lectra is out of the question.

Wild Ginger Software is a user-friendly, inexpensive, pattern making software and quality apparel design related hardware system. As a company, they provide powerful, reasonably priced apparel pattern making software to small to medium apparel manufacturers,  small custom clothing businesses, theatrical costume designers, and sewing enthusiasts alike.

Great news for small fashion design and sewing companies looking for professional patterns. Their products include books, classes, CDs, and software like PatternMaster and Cameo Apparel Pattern Software, Digital Flat Pattern,  Wild Things Pet, pattern making software for pet clothes and for costume designers, Applause is available for women’s historic clothing range.  Style Match,  is a great software program that provides a detailed body shape assessment and style recommendations based on key body measurements (What!). Stitch-n-Stash which according to Wild Ginger, is THE software program to help you organize your sewing, quilting, embroidery, cross stitch, needlework, notions, patterns, vendors, and publications stash. I’m not going to say that I need that software but judge for yourself.

Creativity bursting at the seams!

They even launched Wild Things!,which is a fully functional FREE program for drafting patterns for hats, bags, wraps, footwear, and other accessories. YES PLEASE!  I’ve downloaded that software and I plan to use it with my bags. They also have a free program (iCare) for charitable sewing projects. I’ve never sewn medical garments but I’m downloading this software too.

Wild Ginger has plenty of demos for womenswear, bodywear, childrenswear and much more so you can try the programs out. AND I can’t forget to mention epattern, where you can create custom patterns that you can print out and sew up that same day. No need for a trip to Joann, which if you’re like me could be VERY dangerous.

Having worked with some of the “big name” pattern companies as part of my job and being taught on PADSystem, I must applaud Wild Ginger for their easy to use inexpensive options. Educators, FACS teachers can appreciate that also offer educational prices for their software.

If you’re as geeked about fashion design and patternmaking as I am visit their website or check out their blog The Patternist.
