“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriett Tubman

The purpose of this blog is to inspire, encourage, and empower everyone to reach their fullest potential, live their lives by design and be what they were created to be.

“She designed a life she loved.”

I’m trying something a little different. When I look around my office, I see home accessories by Orla Kiely, fashion illustrations by OhJoy , books about sewing, textiles and patternmaking, my own prints on fabric and my totes bags based on my own patterns. I ♥ design in all forms. I love looking at Houzz and Apartment Therapy as much as I love Print and Pattern and Burda Style.

In September, I made a vow to move in the direction of sharing my love of all things design by mentoring  girls in my area. This blog is sort of an extension of myself and my creative calling from the ultimate Creator. I’ll share my own tote bag patterns, prints, and DIY creations as well as all the great stuff that influences me in the world of design. Everything from product reviews, book reviews, to fashion mood boards and so much more.

Out of the Bag Ideas|Destination Wedding Gift Totes

Morgan Pride

Another great use for a Pink Koala Design bag is to create the perfect welcome bags and wedding gift bags. Destination wedding gift bags are the perfect welcome to excite guests, show your appreciation for their attendance and prepare them for the fun ahead. Destination wedding gift bags can also be given to the bride and groom before they depart for the honeymoon. They can be catered to the couple or the destination. Whatever the case make it special and it will be appreciated.

I apologize for length of this post. Today I end a 40+ year relationship with the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Everything started for me at Happy Days Preschool (now the CDC) the base preschool. I went on to attend Frank Knox Elementary School (now DOD offices and classrooms) for Kindergarten and 5th grade. I learned to read in that building.

Party Idea: Kentucky Derby Fascinator Making Party

“The Kentucky Derby is more than a horse race. It is a mood, an excitement and an atmosphere that create a culture around the track. The events and clothing tied to that culture can be traced back to 1875. Many of the seasonal festivities historically kicked off with black-tie charity balls and a Derby day hasn’t passed at the track without a celebration of festive hats.” From DerbyMuseum.org

This year the Kentucky Derby falls on the weekend of my birthday. What a better reason to have a little get together and some DIY fashion fun. Make virgin (or not) mint juleps and craft some Derby worthy fascinators using gorgeous feathers and beautiful silk flowers.
